Llangoed travelled to Bangor City to play their U15s academy side in a friendly on the 3G pitch at Nant Porth. We were under no illusions about the scale of the task, taking on the number 2 academy side in North Wales. The game consisted of 3 x 30 minute “halves”, Bangor took first blood, scoring on the 15th minute. Llangoed equalized 10 minutes later with a stunning piece of play by Aaron Evans. The first “half” finished 2-1 to Bangor with the hosts adding 3 more goals in the second half. The last 30 minutes saw Llangoed pushing forward but finding themselves unable to finish and being punished by the great passing football and pace of the Bangor side who added 4 more to make it 9-1 at full time.
We hadn’t expected to win with so many players injured and Bangor’s reputation as a superb Academy side. There were some good performances today but we need to start playing together as a team rather than a group of individuals if we want to be competetive this season. Thanks to Bangor for a footballing lesson and for hosting us today. Next week, Porthmadog!
