Llangoed travelled to Holyhead for the last league game of the season knowing that only a win would put them in contention for the runners up play off against Llangefni A.

The match kicked off at Holyhead’s ground with Carl Hagan officiating. Llangoed were on the front foot immediately pressing high up the p[itch and coming close twice in the first 2 minutes before some nice passing play between Josh and Alfie culminated in a pass to Cai who strolled through to score and make it 1-0 Llangoed with 2 minutes on the clock. Holyhead had not really switched on yet and a minute later, Cai sidestepped the keeper and slotted home to make it 2-0 Llangoed.

It was all Llangoed as wave after wave of Llangoed attack made attacks on the Holyhead box coming close with several shots and both Kieran and Cai denied by the woodwork. On the 14th minute Alfie, who was creating chance after chance, played a great pass through to Cai who calmly slotted home for a 14 minute hat trick.

Four minutes later Kieran, who had come close several times already, converted a perfect cross from Alfie with an equally excellent header to make it 4-0 Llangoed.

A minute after that, Kieran came close with a beautiful overhead kick that sailed just over the bar.

Another four minutes later, Ben who had been a bundle of energy in midfield with Sam and Josh, chipped a beautiful ball across to Aaron who volleyed home to make it 5-0 Llangoed.

Llangoed were communicating well and passing the ball around and the woodwork denied Ben and Kieran before the consistantly excellent match official Carl Hagan blew for half time.

The second half kicked off and Holyhead had woken up, they were a lot more lively and passing the ball well, pressing much higher up the pitch. George made a couple fo key clearances when Holyhead threatened to get in shooting positions. On the eighth minute, Kieran received a pass through from Josh, collected it and ran with it another 25 yards before chipping the keeper from the edge of the area. 6-0 Llangoed.

It was a lot better football from Holyhead this half and their number 11 was harrying the Llangoed midfield and winning balls down the left with the tall number 2 providing some good passes from the right but they could not get a shot on target. 20 minutes in, Ben was judged to have been fouled and he stepped up to take a free kick just outside the box. His kick was inch perfect and sailed over the Holyhead keeper and just dipped under the bar to make it 7-0 Llangoed.

26 minutes in Aaron, who had been a handful all game, picked up the ball outside of the area and went round the Holyhead defender before slipping the ball under the keeper and making it 8-0 Llangoed.

To give them their dues, Holyhead did not let their heads go down and they got their rewards with a consolation goal a minute before full time when they caught the Llangoed efence napping and fired a ball low to George’s right and into the back of the net. 8-1 Final score.

Winning this game put Llangoed in the joint runners up slot on 50 points alongside Llangefni A. The match has been scheduled for Thursday night at Llangefni at 6.30pm.
