Est. 1947 — The Puffins

Our Story

CPD Llangoed & District FC was founded in 1947, and for nearly 80 years the club has been at the heart of village life in Llangoed, on the eastern tip of Anglesey. Known as The Puffins, we play our football at Tyddyn Paun and have represented the village and surrounding district through generations of local players, volunteers and supporters.

For most of our history the club competed in the famous Anglesey League, one of the oldest leagues in Welsh football, dating back to 1895. Llangoed were crowned Anglesey League Division One champions twice — in 1972–73 and 1988–89 — and also lifted the Division Two title in 1987–88 and the Division Three title in 1980–81. Along the way came a long list of cup successes, including five Dargie Cups, four Megan Cups and the North Wales Amateur Cup in 1970–71.

The early 1970s stand out as a golden era: back-to-back Dargie Cups in 1969–70 and 1970–71, the NWCFA Junior Challenge Cup and North Wales Amateur Cup in 1970–71, Megan Cup wins in 1971–72 and 1972–73, and the league title itself in 1972–73.

A second golden spell arrived in the mid-2010s under Vinny Walker and Spud Thomas. The Puffins won the Lucas Oil Cup in 2015–16, then the Dargie Cup and Bwlch Car Boot Trophy in 2016–17, finishing that season as Anglesey League runners-up and earning promotion to the Gwynedd League.

In 2020, when the North Wales football pyramid was restructured, Llangoed were accepted into Division One of the new North Wales Coast West Football League — Tier 5 of the Welsh game — where we compete today. Under Jay Roberts, who took charge in January 2024, the club reached the Cwpan Menai Tractors final and finished fifth in Division One in 2024–25. In December 2025, cup-winning former boss Vinny Walker returned to Tyddyn Paun as manager, reuniting the club with one of its most successful managers of the modern era.

Owen "Spo" Williams

No history of Llangoed FC would be complete without Owen "Spo" Williams. Our Chairman has now given the club an extraordinary 70 years of service — as player, volunteer, committee man and figurehead. In 2016 his 60th year was marked in fitting style when the clubhouse at Tyddyn Paun was officially named the Owen "Spo" Williams Clubhouse, complete with the club puffin engraved on the slate plaque. A decade on, Spo is still at the heart of everything the Puffins do.

Sefydlwyd CPD Llangoed a'r Cylch ym 1947, ac ers bron i 80 mlynedd mae'r clwb wedi bod wrth galon bywyd y pentref yn Llangoed, ar gwr dwyreiniol Ynys Môn. Rydym yn chwarae ein pêl-droed ar Dyddyn Paun, gan gynrychioli'r pentref a'r cylch drwy genedlaethau o chwaraewyr, gwirfoddolwyr a chefnogwyr lleol.

Am y rhan fwyaf o'n hanes bu'r clwb yn cystadlu yng Nghynghrair Ynys Môn, un o gynghreiriau hynaf pêl-droed Cymru, sy'n dyddio'n ôl i 1895. Enillodd Llangoed bencampwriaeth Adran Un Cynghrair Môn ddwywaith — yn 1972–73 ac 1988–89 — yn ogystal â theitl yr Ail Adran yn 1987–88 a'r Drydedd Adran yn 1980–81, ynghyd â rhestr hir o lwyddiannau cwpan.

Daeth ail gyfnod euraidd yng nghanol y 2010au dan arweiniad Vinny Walker a Spud Thomas — Cwpan Lucas Oil yn 2015–16, yna Cwpan Dargie a Thlws Bwlch Car Boot yn 2016–17, cyn dyrchafiad i Gynghrair Gwynedd. Yn 2020 derbyniwyd y clwb i Adran Un Cynghrair Gorllewin Arfordir Gogledd Cymru, ble rydym yn cystadlu heddiw. Yn Rhagfyr 2025, dychwelodd Vinny Walker i Dyddyn Paun fel rheolwr.

Ac ni fyddai hanes y clwb yn gyflawn heb Owen "Spo" Williams. Mae ein Cadeirydd bellach wedi rhoi 70 mlynedd o wasanaeth i'r clwb, ac yn 2016 enwyd y clwbdy ar Dyddyn Paun yn Glwbdy Owen "Spo" Williams er anrhydedd iddo, i nodi 60 mlynedd o wasanaeth ar y pryd.
